1946 MG TC Manual - $65,000
This stunning TC is one of Australia’s best with numerous concours wins under its belt and a full owner history from when it was built on Friday September 13, 1946 to when it arrived in Australia in 1984 and through to the current owner. This meticulous and highly prized example is near faultless and is being offered for sale only because of limited use. It underwent a complete body and trim restoration in late 2004 followed by the addition of a new hood in 2007 and a replacement engine (with a slightly warmer cam) in 2008. Note that MGs did not have matching number drivetrains. The car promptly won the MGTC Owners Club (Western Australia) concours d’elegance in 2010 and 2012. It was purchased by the current owner in 2015 and won the WA club concours in 2018. It is in its original red paint and trim colour, becoming one of the first TCs produced to benefit from MG’s paint change policy introduced in the previous month of 1946. Previous TCs were only available in black. Note that it has the factory pale-grey painted cowl (firewall) with tool box and battery box and the grey engine block with silver valve cover. The car has 19-inch Excelsior tyres on wire wheels; the headlights and fog lights are Lucas and stamped with the manufacturer’s name; the timber veneer dashboard is in excellent condition; as is the leather upholstery. Some changes from the original including the Laycock A-Type electric overdrive. The car will be supplied with full weather gear. This car is in concours condition and suits discerning collectors. It is on a concessional licence. It can be inspected in Perth. Additional information and photographs are available. Transport to any buyer location and inspection reports can be arranged at buyer’s cost.
