"MG TC THE END OF AN ERA...A CONTINUING LEGEND"
MGTC OWNERS CLUB
Perth - Western Australia
Origins
The MG TC Owners Club had its beginning on Thursday 1st June 1961 when 12 owners gathered at a home in the northern suburbs of the City of Perth, Western Australia. Most had responded to a letter drop a few days earlier.
Two weeks later 5 more owners responded and at the end of the first 12 months the Club had a very active membership of 25.
Those early years were filled with constant competitions including many trips to Mooliabeenie, a WW2 gravel airstrip in farming country about 60 miles north east of Perth, hill climbs wherever a gravel hill could be found and car trials and for some a dabble into motor racing at Caversham including the 1962 Australian Grand Prix.
In the years since the Club has grown in both numbers and stature.
The Club has always been a one marque Club with the majority of members owning, restoring and driving TC’s. The remaining members own TD’s,TF’s,Y types (both sedans and tourers) plus cars dating back to the pre second world war era. These members were invited into the Club in the early 1980’s
Club meetings have been held, without a break, every fortnight, almost always at a member’s home.
The growth of the Club, the support of its members and their families, the fellowship, the standard of restoration and presentation of the cars that give all of us so much pleasure is the envy of many.
It truly has been an amazing journey.
